How I balance life while travelling

Many of my clients often ask me how I stay on track/ balance life while travelling. I spent quite alot of time abroad this year and spent the past month travelling in Bali so I thought I would share some of my top tips and tricks that have helped me.

1. EXPLORE:

I love exploring new places and it’s such an easy and fun way to get your steps in! Get outdoors and explore by foot wherever possible. Its the best way to see new places.

2. BE ACTIVE:

I try to move my body most days. This doesn’t mean you have to run (I personally love running) but it can be ANYTHING! Its so important to move your body in ways that feels good for YOU! I don't only do this for the physical benefits but I just love the way that moving my body makes me feel. Nothing like an endorphin release to help you feel good mentally too.

3. TRY SOMETHING NEW:

Don’t be scared to try new activities. Even if you suck at it, it can be such a fun way to move your body and a great laugh. During my trip to Bali I was fortunate enough to try a few new activities - tennis, squash, and boxing.

4. STAY HYDRATED:

This is probably one of my top tips! It’s so easy to forget to drink water when we are out of our normal routine. I try to keep a bottle with me at all times and keep sipping on it. The fact that its so hot in Bali also makes this tip alot easier!

5. MEDITATE:

I am definitely not as consistent with this while I am travelling but when I do get the chance, it really helps me clear my mind and makes me feel more present. Highly recommend, even if its just for 10 minutes a day!

6. PRACTICE MODERATION:

Now I know that this tip is easier said than done but I try not to have that all or nothing mindset. If you over indulge at one meal, remember your next meal can be a nutritious one! Its important to listen to your body and stop when you are full. I try stick to having 3 structured meals a day (and a snack if necessary) to avoid “grazing” all day. Where possible, I try fill half of my plate with veggies/ salad, a quarter with lean protein and the rest with wholegrain carbs to make sure I am nourishing my body.

7. ENJOY!

It’s important to enjoy the special moments with family/ friends and embrace the new experiences. Try new foods and if you over indulge or gain a few kilos while on holiday, its okay! You don't have to beat yourself up about it and remember that you can get right back on track after the holidays. Don't let restriction stop you from making memories and enjoying your holiday!

The above tips help ME feel my best self when I am travelling and out of my normal routine but its important to find what works for YOU. What works for me might not be best for you <3
